Why vote for Amanda?
"Having served as a community councillor for many years, I had never considered becoming a county councillor until it was recently suggested to me, and I have decided to stand as a councillor in my community in the hope of continuing the good work before me.
Originally born and raised in Newcastle Emlyn, my parents moved to upper Lady road in the early 1990’s and I have lived in Llechryd with my husband and two children for the last 28 years. Having originally worked in a local insurance broker in Cardigan and currently working with my husband in his business, I have made many contacts within the extended ward I hope to be elected for.
I have previously been a school governor in Llechryd primary school and a long standing councillor in the Llangoedmor community council, and enjoy being the voice of the people where I can.
Recently I have been a member of Parti yn Y Parc, who have over the last ten years organised village events, Christmas dinners for the older generation, children activities and when covid became an obstacle we set up a help group , supporting many people during the pandemic , with food and pharmacy collection
I am also involved with the Coracle Hall, ensuring it’s smooth running and have been part of the flood resilience group to support Llechryd residents in times of flooding.
A councillor needs to be a person passionate and dedicated to their community, this I feel I can bring to the people of the Llangoedmor and Beulah ward. I am approachable and friendly and will do my very best to help where I can and endeavour to learn all I can to fulfil this role."
Amanda's priorities
"Priorities for my area will be to help the community as best as I can.
I would concentrate on supporting the local economy, work to expand tourism, assist local people with local housing, work towards a productive active travel scheme, work to improve the green agenda in reducing our carbon footprint and the social care agenda for our increasing ageing population.
Within the ward, the Teifi river and flooding is a big problem, and I would like to continue working on ways to try and improve the situation, this will be a task in itself but an important one.
As a community councillor I have been pro-active in past projects, information notice boards, renewing park equipment, defibrillator and it’s training, walking programmes, resilience group for a few to list. I am not afraid to give my opinion, voice my concerns and take action where necessary."
