Taking place on Thursday 26 November, Carers Rights Day brings together organisations from across Wales to reach out to carers with information, advice and support.
This year’s theme is Know Your Rights. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every aspect of caring, affecting carers’ access to support and services, and their physical and mental health. Many are caring for the first time, while those who’ve been caring for a while are facing greater challenges and pressures than ever before. It’s never been more important for carers to be informed and know their rights.
Ben Lake MP said:
“The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every aspect of caring, affecting carers’ access to services and support activities, in addition to their physical and mental health. As a result, our carers are more isolated than ever before.
“On this year’s Carers Rights Day, we must all play a role in helping to identify and support people who are looking after ill, frail or disabled loved ones and making sure they get advice and information about the support they are entitled to as early as possible.
“It is also important to celebrate the fantastic achievements of carers, and their incredible efforts during such challenging times. I particularly want to thank ‘Gofalwyr Ceredigion Carers’, who have offered invaluable moral and practical support, without which people across the county would be in a much worse condition today.”
