Background
"As a resident of the Teifi ward myself, I am familiar with the characteristics of the area. Flood defences for dwellings on the bank of the River Teifi are a priority. As an experienced councillor I sit on several bodies that strive to improve the lives of individuals by supporting the town's facilities, businesses and infrastructure."
Why vote for Catrin?
"Since 2008, I have represented the Teifi ward on Ceredigion County Council and Cardigan Town Council. I have also been a Cabinet member since 2017 with responsibility for Schools, Lifelong Learning & Skills, Support and Intervention. IT has been an honour to represent Cardigan as the town’s Mayor 2011-13, and I’m impassioned for the area and its people. There are a number of serious challenges facing everyone this day and I am keen to continue the important work of being an active advocate and a strong, honest and enthusiastic voice for the residents of the Teifi ward for the coming 5 years."
Catrin's priorities
"One of our society's priorities is education: it realises the potential of children, young people and individuals of all ages, opens doors and leads them to fulfilled lives. I am pleased to support the town's 2 schools as a governor, to co-ordinate the Cardigan Town Centre Partnership, contribute to the Swimming Pool development project and a large number of local organisations.
It was a privilege to sit on a steering group that ensured that there is a brand new Health Centre in Cardigan which has "twenty-first century" facilities.
During the challenging 2 years under Covid, my focus was on safeguarding a seamless service for our children and young people in education, ensuring that our vulnerable residents receive all support during lockdown and that our independent businesses survive.
I ask for the opportunity to continue the important work of representing the Teifi ward on the 5th of May."
