Catrin M. S. Davies: Ceulan a Maesmawr

Why vote for Catrin?

"Hello! My name is Catrin M. S. Davies and I am pleased to announce that I shall be standing as your Plaid Cymru candidate in the Ceredigion County Council elections on 5 May. I live in Tal-y-bont and I work as a television and radio producer and director.

It would be a privilege to represent the communities of Tal-y-bont, Taliesin, Tre'r Ddôl, Ysgubor-y-Coed, Eglwys-fach and Bont-goch on Ceredigion County Council.

Community is at the heart of everything I do. I am a member of the local Community Council and the Tal-y-bont Hall Committee. I have been a member of the Governing Body of Ysgol Tal-y-bont and Ysgol Gyfun Penweddig, and in recent years I have arranged fundraising events for local and international appeals.

Over the next few weeks I look forward to meet as many residents as possible to understand what issues are important to local people. I will then be able to shape my priorities if I am lucky enough to be elected."

Catrin's priorities

  • Support further safety measures to ensure pedestrian and cyclist safety across the ward and support efforts to develop a cycle and pedestrian route between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth;
  • Push for better security measures outside Tal-y-bont Primary School;
  • Work with relevant agencies to introduce measures to mitigate the effects of flooding in the ward;
  • Improve broadband and mobile phone connectivity across the ward;
  • Campaign for affordable homes locally, especially for young people;
  • Reduce our carbon footprint by ensuring that public sector procurement policies are local, seasonal and sustainable;
  • Encourage and support anyone who wants to get involved with council matters to be heard and represented.
