There is great concern in Cardigan after the announcement by the Newsquest Group that the TivySide office in the town is to close on 19 February. The paper will be produced from the group office in Haverfordwest.
Elin Jones, Plaid Cymru AM for Ceredigion, said;
“This news is a real blow to Cardigan and south Ceredigion. Following the disappointing loss of the post of TivySide editor fourteen months ago, there was hope at least in that the office would remain in the town. Now, exactly 150 years after the TivySide was founded, the paper won’t have a base in Cardigan at all. While this centralisation is a development that can be seen across the newspaper sector, it’s a very worrying time for the proud tradition of journalism in the Teifi valley area.”
