Plans for new express coach welcomed

Elin Jones MS is encouraging everyone to take part in the consultation on a new express bus service connecting north and south Wales, that will be a welcome addition to Ceredigion’s bus services.

Transport for Wales’s plans for a new TrawsCymru Express Coach Service will be an express stop service calling at key town centres and railway stations between Bangor and Carmarthen, with proposed stops in Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, Lampeter, and Llandysul.

This new service is designed to cut journey times between the locations by 90 minutes, compared to current public transport options.

Elin Jones MS said: "I welcome this consultation and hope that everyone in Ceredigion will take the chance to respond to it. I’m pleased that there are plans to increase our services, to develop the west Wales transport corridor further, as part of preparing for the return of the rail network along the same corridor one day. There is also a clear need for some of the new services to go as far as Cardiff, and ensuring the T1C from Aberystwyth to Cardiff is kept and its timetable extended, is also very important to residents of Ceredigion."

* There is more information about the consultation which is open until 28 March on the Transport for Wales website: North to South Wales Express Coach Proposal | Have your say by Transport for Wales
