Ben Lake MP has tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) at Westminster to congratulate Aberystwyth University on their recent achievement of a Gold Award in the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF).
The University achieved the TEF’s top rating for delivering consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for students, of the highest quality found in the UK.
The TEF was set up by the Westminster Government to recognise excellent teaching in UK higher education providers by rating them as Gold, Silver or Bronze, with ratings judged by an independent panel of students, academics and other experts.
The EDM, which has been backed by cross-party support, including Aberystwyth University alumni, Jonathan Edwards MP, Liz Saville Roberts MP and Lady Hermon MP, states:
“That this House congratulates Aberystwyth University on the achievement of a Gold Award in the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF); commends the hard work and commitment of the University's staff in securing this award; welcomes the TEF panel's top rating of Aberystwyth University as delivering consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for its students, of the highest quality found in the UK; notes the TEF panel's finding of Aberystwyth University's strategic and innovative approach to ensuring outstanding student engagement with learning; applauds Aberystwyth University for exceeding its benchmark on student satisfaction with assessment and feedback, and rates for continuation and progression to highly skilled employment or further study; supports Aberystwyth University's comprehensive and integrated approach to Welsh language teaching; and praises the University's emphasis on student participation in the planning and development of teaching.”
