Elin Jones welcomes extension of High-Speed Broadband project

This week, the Welsh Government has announced the extension of the High-Speed Broadband Project, that aims to bring broadband to everyone.

Whilst the previous project, Superfast Cymru, brought superfast broadband and fibre to a total of over 770,000 premises in Wales, we know that in Ceredigion many have faced difficulties in getting broadband to their homes, and some are still without adequate broadband.

The Welsh Government’s intention is to assess how many properties are still without broadband, so that they can create a targeted scheme later in the year to bridge the gaps. Elin Jones is eager to establish how many properties in Ceredigion are still without superfast broadband.

Elin Jones MS said: "I’m glad the Welsh Government has extended this scheme. Broadband stopped being a luxury many years ago, and as many patches of our area have little or no mobile signal, broadband is even more important to our daily lives here in Ceredigion. It is regrettable that it is taking so long for 100% coverage of superfast broadband to be available to all.

I hope to be able to provide the Welsh Government with a detailed analysis of the exact properties that are still without broadband in the county, so that the Government can make maximum use of the money available in the autumn. Therefore we ask everyone in Ceredigion without adequate broadband to contact me with their details.”
