Congratulations to Shelley Childs who was chosen as the candidate for Plaid Cymru in the upcoming by-election in Aberystwyth Penparcau. The county council by-election will be held on Thursday, the 16th of November.
Shelley has lived and worked in Penparcau for many years and is well known in the area. Equally, he understands his neighbourhood and is aware of the challenges faced by the people of Penparcau.
There is no doubt that Shelley is an enthusiastic and diligent individual who is a natural leader but also a team player. Shelley has experience in coordinating and organising events. Indeed, he is the main organiser of the AberCycleFest event. Shelley also volunteers with the events team of Aberystwyth Athletics Club and is now the Secretary of Ystwyth Cycling Club, having also been the Chairman in the past.
The electoral ward of Aberystwyth Penparcau has two County Councillors and Shelley is very keen to join Carl Worral to guarantee a strong representation for local community. Shelley feels strongly that there is a need to reduce waiting times for tenants who need urgent repairs to their homes in order to improve people's experiences of renting. He is also aware of the growing demand for mental health services and is therefore keen to support local projects to enable everyone to access help when needed.
Shelley has support across Ceredigion. Ben Lake MP said:
“Shelley is a values member of Penparcau ward, and is keen to serve you as a County Councillor. Shelley already volunteers in support of a number of local initiatives and is eager to take this to the next level. I know that he will bring the same energy and commitment to serving you on the Council should he be elected.”
We wish Shelley the best of luck. If you would like to volunteer and join Shelley on his campaign to be elected, get in touch with Plaid Cymru Ceredigion by emailing us at [email protected]
