Background

• Iwan attended Ciliau Parc School, Aberaeron Comprehensive School and graduated in architecture from the University of Greenwich in London.
• Manager of an architects’ office in Aberystwyth and has worked on projects such as the National Library and the Harbourmaster.
• Current Chair and member of Ciliau Aeron Community Council for over 14 years.
• Chair of Menter Tafarn Y Dyffryn (a company for community benefit).
• Leader of Felinfach Young Farmers Club and Chair of Troed-Y-Rhiw Co-operative.
• Member of Neuaddlwyd Chapel.
• Sings with the Bois Y Gilfach choir, and with a local band, Argyfwng Canol Oed.
• A keen eisteddfodwr and attends Carmarthen Bardic School.

"I would like to introduce myself to you. I am the son of this square mile, and apart from a period as a student in London I have always lived in the area. I am married to Janice, am father of three boys who live at home with us here at Ciliau Aeron, and we all work all locally.

I am a great believer in acting locally and in doing the little things, and if the people of this Ward trust me and elect me as your County Councillor I would hope that I could make a positive difference, both at within our society and to the lives of individuals.

Iwan's priorities

"If I were elected one of my priorities would be to support opportunities for local young people; they are the future of our communities and we need to ensure that employment, living and social opportunities are available for them here locally. In addition I will stand up to ensure that those people and areas that feel that they are on the margins of society are not left behind.

As a Community Councillor I was pleased to lead a project where grants were secured for a bridge and improving paths on Rhos common, Cilcennin and securing play equipment for Ciliau Aeron Hall. 

More recently I am delighted to have been involved with local people who have gone on to create a Community Interest Initiative that has managed to raise over £380k in shares to buy the Vale of Aeron."
