Background
Matt works as a manager for the Calon Tysul charity - the largest leisure and welfare resource in the Llandysul area.
Matt has lived in Llandysul since 2016 with his wife and 7-11 year old children and he has learnt Welsh fluently.
He is an enthusiastic coach working with junior local football / rugby teams.
He initiated the local response to the pandemic with the 'HELP! Llandysul and the area' Facebook page and co-ordinated a group of volunteers.
Why vote for Matt?
"In facing Covid over the last two years, we have all realised the importance of the local area, our community and its strength. With a renewed emphasis on helping each other, shopping locally and appreciating our local area, I want to maintain and develop this momentum with your help in order to secure the best resources and services for Llandysul and Capel Dewi.
I am a 'grassroots' person that is honest and fair and want to work hard for our area within the Council and in the Community.
With enough energy and enthusiasm, the most difficult obstacles can be overcome. It is a privilege and an honour to have the opportunity to represent you as a Councillor."
Matt's priorities
-
Campaigning for affordable homes and homes in the area, especially for young people.
-
I am passionate about improving public transport and safe cycling and walking opportunities in the countryside.
-
I am passionate about improving the environment. I will encourage low carbon ways of traveling, e.g. hire electric cars / bikes and encourage organisations to reduce waste and reliance on fossil fuels.
-
Improve and stimulate opportunities for independent micro businesses and organisations to utilise vacant facilities in the area.
-
I will support all efforts to protect our facilities in the village of Llandysul and the local area.
-
I have become fluent in Welsh and become a Welsh for Adults tutor. The language is an extremely important treasure for us all, especially in this area. I will work to improve rights to use the language on a daily basis and opportunities for learners.
