Elin Jones MS is proud to sponsor Pete Davis’ exhibition in the Pierhead, Cardiff, which was launched this week.
The exhibition ‘City Stories’ features a series of photographs of locals and businesses in Cardiff city centre, taken fifty years ago, reflecting on a time and place that has changed both visually and culturally. They represent an environment that is now nearly two generations removed, and this is the first time the photos have been shown in Cardiff.
Pete’s photographs have been widely exhibited, and are featured in national and international art collections. Pete was brought up in Cardiff and started taking photographs when he was 11 years old. After ten years as an advertising and fashion photographer, Pete moved to Alltyblaca from where he embarked on many field trips around the British Il.
Elin Jones MS said: ‘It’s such a pleasure to sponsor Pete’s exhibition which has captured the essence of life in Cardiff fifty years ago. Life has changed so dramatically in Cardiff, and these photos help to record the more social aspects of the city’s history.
The exhibition in the Pierhead is open to the public until the beginning of December, and I would urge all Cardiffians to go and enjoy it.’
