Elin Jones, the Assembly Member for Ceredigion, has raised concerns about proposed changes to the out of hours GP services in the south of Ceredigion.
The health board has proposed that from the 9th of March patients living in the Llandysul and the surrounding area will be asked to attend out of hours base at Glangwili General Hospital in Carmarthen, should they need to see a clinician.
Elin Jones, said:
“People are rightly concerned by these changes. Being asked to travel long distances in the middle of the night for out of hours calls will understandably be a massive inconvenience for frail and ill people in the south of the county.
“I’ve raised these concerns with the health board, and I’ve asked for them to identify why it has become more difficult to fill GP rotas.
“The strain of winter pressures are clear, however we must ensure that these changes are only a temporary measure.”
