Hywel Dda Health Board is seeking your comments on the proposed changes to care at Tregaron hospital to be more community-focused, and Elin wants to see as many people responding to the engagement process as possible.
The intention is to close the nine beds currently at Tregaron Hospital, as staffing has become unsustainable. The Health Board want to use the same staff to provide care to more patients in their homes. The The engagement process is open until the 29 of August, and you can respond to it online through the website. There will also be a drop-in session in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday the 21 August between 2-7pm, and a virtual event over zoom 6pm on Thursday the 22 August.
Elin Jones MS said: “This is the best opportunity for you to raise any concerns about how you feel these changes will affect you. It was a shock to hear this news from the Health Board last month, as the intention has always been to keep the 9 beds at the Hospital, until ‘step-up, step-down’ beds are available through the Cylch Caron project.
We know that recruitment is one of the Health Board’s (and indeed many organisations across Ceredigion too) main challenges at the moment. This puts more pressure on the staff already there, and so it’s understandable that there is a need to revise the current staffing system, but it’s crucial that this is not done at the expense of the patients and their families. This engagement is the best way to raise any concerns that you have about these changes, and I’m urging everyone in the community to respond.”
